Craft Ale

We are a family team of multi-award winning former licensees, gaining notoriety in Liverpool’s ‘Pub of Excellence’ The Baltic Fleet and Cheshire’s former ‘Pub of the Year’ & ‘Cider Pub of the Year’, The Albion in Warrington. After many years of experience and numerous Good Beer Guide entries, we left it behind (for now) to focus on crafting the beers of the Connoisseur range.

Iconic Food

As the Victorian era came to an end Edmund and Lydia Barton started making pickles in their little cottage kitchen in St. Helens.
Edmund collected vegetables from local farms and markets and brought them home to St. Helens where they were prepared by hand – peeling, slicing, chopping – and then simply preserving in spiced vinegar and sauce mixes to sell through the streets of St. Helens by hand cart.

Bartons Pickles is now over 100 years old and was honoured in their centenary celebrations on 24th November 2004 with a visit from HRH The Prince of Wales.
